Valerie Brock

Horses: Willey & Dusty

I am Valerie Brock.  I have 2 horses, Willey and Dusty.  Willey is a 13 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding off of a racetrack in Illinois that has a lot of Thoroughbred breeding in his background. He used to be my show horse in 4-H, but then I grew out of 4-H and realized his potential as a barrel horse.  Dusty is an 11 year old registered Paint.  She was the horse that I began barrel racing on.  I am 20 years old and from Schaghticoke, NY and have been barrel racing for about 5 years, but riding horses since I was 4.  I love to barrel race and would like to race in every state in the country someday.

Horse: Kidnap TJ

I've been riding since I was a kid but have only been lucky to have my own horse since 2006. My good friend got me back into riding and started me in barrel racing by letting me rider her horses. Now I can't imagine my life without a horse! I love the competition and community of barrel racing and feel very fortunate to be a part of it.

Melodie Cook

Horses: Little Miss Liberty and Ruby

My name is Melodie Cook. I have 2 horses. Little Miss Liberty is a 7 yeal old Arab-Quarter horse born on my farm. She is wonderful on the barrels. Besides running barrels, she also loves to chase cows and do ranch showing, trail riding or anything I ask her to do. Ruby is a 21 year old Appaloosa that I bought 9 years ago. She was a hunter/jumper with a lot of speed. I had always wanted to run barrels, but never had a horse fast enough to do it until I got Ruby. I had to teach her the barrel pattern, but once she caught on to barrels she was easy to just turn the speed on. If I had never bought this horse I would never have started to run barrels.
